What is E-LIGHT (Laser Hair Removal)
E-Light is the latest technology for permanent hair removal of all skin colours. Traditional IPL technologies was only limited to certain candidates. And pure laser treatment could be harmful to dark skin colour. So if you were previously turned away, or your laser hair removal treatments in the past did not yield satisfactory results, then we can certainly help you. It treats extremely fine hair on light skin and also is clinical proven to be the safest hair removal solution for dark skin.

What is the E-light Advantage?
E-light technology provides skin rejuvenation and hair removal for all skin and hair types. Compared to earlier IPL technology, there is less blistering, scabbing, crusting and hyper or hypo pigmentation, reduced redness and inflammation and less pain.

Why is E-light more effective than standard IPL?
By emitting the optical pulse and electric pulse at the same time, the net effect is to force the electric energy to stream preferentially to the regions of the dermis pre-heated by the absorbed light, producing a greater and more focused thermal effect than a single pulse of high energy light. With less intense light energy there are less burning risks and the synergistic coupling of energies means that each pulse can be delivered for a longer period of time than standard IPL – yielding improved results.

Is treatment with E-light safe?
Treatment is relatively safe for the skin. There are many advances in the new E-light technology that make it one of the safest skin rejuvenation and hair removal systems available, for all skin types and hair colours. There are no long-term health hazards and both light and electric energy have been used for decades in medicine, surgery and aesthetics without adversity.

How does the E-light get rid of hair?
Gentle light and electric energies combine to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a long-term reduction in the amount of hair in that area.

What kind of results can be expected?
Each treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in colour, becoming finer and also slowing re-growth. It takes more than one treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-6 treatments; however, individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Lighter coloured hair may require more treatments than darker coloured hair.

How frequently do hair removal treatments with E-light need to be performed?
Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-6 treatments, which are usually performed every three to four weeks. This depends on individual factors that the practitioner will discuss during consultation.

How does hair removal with E-light feel?
The sensation is often described as a ‘hot pinch’ or ‘snapping’ feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second and warmth and/or a tingling sensation is experienced for a short time afterward. Most people tolerate treatment without any topical anaesthetic, but individuals who are more sensitive may prefer to have their skin numbed before treatment.

What happens after each E-light hair removal treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will ‘shed’ some hairs over the next 3-4 weeks and there may be a short period of irregular hairlessness in the area until the conclusion of treatments.

Who is suitable for E-light hair removal treatment?
Anyone seeking a long-term alternative solution to shaving, waxing, plucking or electrolysis. There are a few medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment that the practitioner will discuss during consultation.
• Hair removal
• Removing Freckles
• Treating skin pigmentation
• Acne repair
• Sun damage
• Vein removal
• Skin rejuvenation

E-LIGHT HAIR REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE TREATMENT
1. Avoid the sun or tanning booths for at least 4-6 weeks before treatment. If you are going to receive treatment in sun-exposed areas, apply sun block (at least SPF 15) each morning for one month before treatment.
2. No bleaching, plucking, electrolysis or waxing of hairs in desired treatment area for six weeks.
3. If you have a history of herpes (or cold sores), you may need antiviral medication. This should be started one day before laser treatment and continued for one week afterward.
4. You may shave as often as desired.
5. Please carefully shave the desired treatment area the few days before your laser session.
6. Come to our facility with the treatment area clean (no makeup if treating the face).

AFTER TREATMENT
1. There may be redness or some swelling to the treated area. This may last for a few hours. The skin will be sensitive, similar to sunburn. Therefore treat the skin gently. You should keep the skin moist with  Aloe Vera Gel. If any blistering or scabbing develops, switch to Bacitracin Ointment and call the salon.
2. Do not pick, rub, or scratch the area. Do not use any irritating substances on the treated area (i.e., Retin-A, glycolic acids, alpha-hydroxy acids, or hair removal products, etc.) until the skin returns to normal.
3. If your face was treated, keep away from your oven for 24 hours. Maintain a cool temperature to your shower or bath water because the skin will be extra sensitive to heat.
4. If the treatment area is sun-exposed, apply sun-block of at least SPF 15 after the skin returns to normal. If the treated area seems to darken in colour, call our office for bleaching cream.
5. If your facial area was treated, you may start using makeup again as soon as the skin looks and feels back to normal.
6. After about 5-7 days, shedding of the hair follicle may or may not occur.
7. The treated area should be ready for the next session in about 4-8 weeks
